Bargain of the Day for Fairfield, CT — There are Still Free Energy Audits Available for Fairfield Residents

Posted on

Still spots open to get a free energy audit (UI pays for it)! Photo: Quirkysue @ Dreamstime.com

A few weeks ago, there was an article in one of the papers (not sure which one) letting Fairfield residents know that they could get a free energy audit through UI. This audit is worth its weight in gold if it means it can help contain the cost of energy bills! (Read the list of things they will do on this audit which can be worth hundreds of dollars.)

UI has commissioned a company called Gulick Building to conduct free energy audits in Fairfield through a stimulus package. Other towns are not getting this free audit (instead, for neighboring towns, there is a $75 co-pay). Fairfielders should absolutely take advantage of this!

Both Frugal Fairfielders have an appointment to have a free energy audit this month. The folks at Gulick say there are many more spots open–so call them today at 203-583-4567 or schedule an audit online (they’ll call you back to confirm).

Note: Audits are about 2.5 to 4.5 hours depending on house size and amenities. There are two slots for appointments. Mornings start at 9:00 a.m. and afternoons start at 1:00 p.m.

  1. It’s good to know that there are options like this. Our company also works with UI and the state of Connecticut to do cheap audits. More people need to do this, especially in a state like CT which has so many old houses that lose heat and have old inefficient fixtures.

  2. This is a wonderful idea. I’m going to let all of my customers know about this opportunity in the future. Our company takes a holistic view on all energy use, not only electricity.

      Hi there,
You will not have to put out one penny for your audit. We did hear from someone else who had an audit that they will do a door blow test and they will block off your house for 3 hours–that means you can’t go in or out of it. Eeek. But, I hear it’s worth it. They will probably offer recommendations at the end of the session (i.e. things that will cost money to fix) but you don’t do or pay out a thing for the audit. One of the Two Frugal Fairfielders has her audit this week, I have mine next week. Good luck on yours!! Report back! We will report on ours, too.
